Breast cancer is like the scene in Terminator 2 when Sarah Connor is being chased by the insane new terminator and then runs into Arnold Schwarzenegger, the terminator who tried to kill her in the last movie who now says, Come with me if you want to live.”

There’s one monster (cancer) chasing you from behind and a barbarian (your medical team’s treatment plan of surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, and targeted therapy + an innumerable amount of early and long-term side effects) in front of you, offering to help.

Talk about worst deal ever!

You’re given this semblance of autonomy, of a choice between life and death, and most choose the barbarian, because brute as he may be, he offers life.  That doesn’t mean he doesn’t give you a good beating along the way.  And when it’s all said and done, you’re expected to just pop back to normal.

How is that fair? It is not.

I’m Dr. Sirisha Manyam, oncologist, mother, fierce breast cancer survivorship advocate, and founder of The Breastless Beauty.

My world was turned upside down when my 37-year-old aunt was diagnosed with breast cancer. While I was confident about the direction of her medical care, I found myself struggling to help her navigate an uncharted sea of emotions….

Watching my aunt struggle with her emotions and identity made me recognize, as oncologists, how little support we offer our breast cancer survivors in the aftermath of their therapy.

From the anger, fear, and embarrassment, to the loss of femininity, loss of sex drive, and weight gain, that plague women on their road to recovery. I became determined to find a solution to each obstacle

That is when I found life coaching.

Coaching helped my aunt work through her anger and frustration and move into her best life. I was so moved by how coaching changed my aunt’s life, that I became a certified coach in an effort to offer these essential tools to my own patients.

After going through what seemed like an endless battle with cancer, life coaching offered our family the tools we needed to process our overwhelming thoughts and emotions so we controlled them and not the other way around. It taught us how to use our mind’s cognitive power to ease anxiety, stress, and worry so we could process emotion and focus our energy on the things that mattered most to us.

If you’re tired of living in the shadow of cancer and want to find out how you can overcome your fear, boost your self-confidence, and create your best life, I’m glad you are here.

At The Breastless Beauty, we have created a safe space to unpack all of the thoughts and feelings that keep you living in the shadow of breast cancer.
